5 on 50 (CBC TV)    |    Videopoems Project

CBC TV "5 on 50" program

5 ON 50
1 hour television broadcast
CBC TV, September & October 2002

In September, 2002 CBC celebrated 50 years of public broadcasting in Canada. CBC TV invited Clint and four other BC writers (Betty Krawczyk, Wade Compton, Ivan E. Coyote and Nancy Lee) to each write a 10 minute script. They had access to 50 years of film and video footage, and each followed their own paths through the material to see how CBC TV has portrayed the province.

Titled "5 on 50", the program featured the writers' narration and selected footage, intercut with interview clips. Each segment of the programme is approximately 8 minutes long. The video clip is Clint's excerpt from the hour-long program.

THE DAY EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL
30 minute television broadcast
Produced and directed by Bob Wakulich
Cable TV, early 1990s

The Videopoems Project featured performances by Clint Hutzulak, Rebecca Kraatz, Tom Holliston and Bob Wakulich. Each writer performed their poem or short story on location in Victoria or in the television studio.

Titled "The Day Everything was Normal", the video of Clint's poem was about 6 minutes in length. Unfortunately, his copy of the VHS tape has gone missing. When he finds the tape, he'll post a QuickTime movie here.
